A senior technical opportunity for an experienced property claims professional to act as the central point of expertise for complex decision-making, technical governance, and high-value loss management. This role focuses on ensuring the accuracy, defensibility, and consistency of technical outcomes across domestic and commercial property claims.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead technical validation on major and complex losses, ensuring clarity on coverage, liability, causation, and quantum.
- Set, review and approve reserves on high-value or contentious cases.
- Manage a personal caseload of complex property claims from instruction through to conclusion.
- Review surveyor and contractor reports, challenging scopes and repair strategies where required.
- Undertake occasional site visits to support decision-making and technical validation.
- Act as the primary technical referral point for surveyors and claims handlers.
- Conduct technical file reviews and audits, providing recommendations to strengthen quality and consistency.
- Deliver technical coaching and development sessions to support capability across the wider team.
- Engage with stakeholders—including insurers, brokers and suppliers—on technical matters and reporting.
- Support leadership with technical insights, risk trends and management information.
Experience & Requirements
- Extensive experience handling domestic and commercial property claims, including major and complex loss.
- Strong technical understanding of policy coverage, liability decisions, causation analysis and quantum assessment.
- Proven background in loss adjusting or complex technical claims handling.
- Confident reviewing scopes, estimates and repair methodologies.
- Professional qualifications such as Dip CILA or Dip CII are preferred or a commitment to continued technical development.
- Excellent communication, analytical and negotiation skills, with the ability to provide clear and authoritative technical guidance.
