Summary
At Black & White Engineering, we’re not just designing mechanical systems, we’re enabling the infrastructure that powers the digital economy. As a Senior Mechanical Engineer, you’ll play a pivotal role in delivering technically complex, high-performance data centre projects across Europe. This is your opportunity to lead from the front, influence design strategy, and work with some of the most respected names in the mission-critical sector.
You’ll be responsible for the full mechanical design lifecycle, from early-stage concept development, through to detailed design, construction support, and commissioning. Your work will span HVAC systems, chilled water networks, CRAC/CRAH units, ventilation strategies, and fire protection systems, all tailored to meet the stringent demands of hyperscale and colocation data centres. You’ll ensure designs comply with Uptime Institute Tier standards, ASHRAE guidelines, and local European regulations, while also pushing the boundaries of energy efficiency and resilience.
You’ll be supporting the technical leads on major projects, manage client relationships, coordinate with multidisciplinary teams, and mentor junior engineers. Your ability to communicate complex ideas clearly and confidently will be key to building trust with clients and driving project success.
You’ll be supported by a collaborative UK based team and our global engineering design centre, giving you access to world-class resources and expertise. Our culture is built around continuous learning, with regular lunch & learn sessions, accredited CPD programmes, and support for chartership and further education. If you’re already operating at Principal level, we offer a fast-track route to Associate Director for those ready to take the next step.
We’re looking for someone with a strong background in mechanical building services, ideally with experience in mission-critical environments. You should be confident using tools like Revit, AutoCAD, IES VE, and CFD software, and have a solid grasp of thermodynamics, fluid dynamics, and energy modelling. Chartered status (or working towards it) is highly desirable.
At Black & White, your work will be recognised, your ideas will be heard, and your career will be accelerated. Join us and help shape the future of data centre engineering, one project at a time.
