Clinical Psychologist – Older Adults Specialty Band 7 or 8a (depending on experience)

1.0wte Based at Lytham Unit, Warton Street, Lytham
An exciting opportunity has arisen for a clinical psychologist with experience and enthusiasm in working with older people, to join the friendly and supportive community Rapid Intervention and Treatment Team (RITT) on the Fylde Coast. We welcome applications from newly qualified clinical psychologists with an interest in working with older adults, clinical psychologists looking for a progression from a Band 7 – 8a or clinical psychologists already in an 8a role.

We would strongly encourage informal enquiries and visits to discuss the post. If recruited into the role at a band 7, the postholder will have a preceptorship process to complete within 2 years in order to progress to the 8a banding.

RITT provide a variety of approaches to support older people with complex mental health issues, with the aim of reducing the need for hospital admission where possible. A specialist care home liaison service is also provided to nursing and care homes. The role includes direct clinical work as well as providing advice and consultation and there will be opportunities for service development, supervision of staff and facilitating training.

The successful applicant will be working with the multi-disciplinary team and team manager(s) to continue to develop a high quality, community-orientated service for older people. The successful post-holder will also be working alongside an assistant psychologist based in the same team, plus additional locality based psychology colleagues.

The posts are professionally attached to the locality older adult psychology team and wider network, both of which offer a friendly and supportive space, with a strong commitment to providing quality services for older people in Lancashire and South Cumbria. We also have close links with the local Doctorate in Clinical Psychology training courses.
