Summary

TeacherActive is proud to be supporting a thriving Primary School in East Birmingham, who are seeking a dedicated KS2 Teaching Assistant with Pastoral Responsibilities to join their Upper Key Stage 2 team.

This is a fantastic full-time opportunity for someone who has a strong background in pastoral support, behaviour mentoring, or family support work, and is passionate about helping children succeed both academically and emotionally.

The Role:
  • Providing tailored support to pupils across Upper KS2 (Year 5 and/or Year 6)


  • Offering pastoral interventions to pupils who may require emotional, behavioural or social support


  • Working closely with the class teacher, SENCO and pastoral team


  • Supporting children with additional needs including SEND and SEMH (not essential but highly desirable)


  • Assisting with classroom activities, small-group work and 1:1 support


  • Maintaining a calm, positive and resilient approach throughout the school day


    The Ideal Candidate Will Have:
    • Experience supporting children in Upper Key Stage 2


    • A background in pastoral work, ideally as a Behaviour Mentor or Family Support Worker


    • A relevant qualification such as Level 2 or Level 3 Supporting Teaching & Learning


    • Confidence supporting children with a range of needs, including SEMH


    • A positive, nurturing attitude and excellent communication skills


    • Full-time availability, Monday to Friday, 8:15am – 3:45pm


    • A valid DBS on the Update Service or willingness to apply for a Criminal Convictions Check through TeacherActive
