Job overviewWe are seeking to appoint a Cognition and Learning Mentor, to provide a proactive, preventative, and responsive complementary support service to that provided by teaching and pastoral staff. The role focuses on addressing the social, emotional, and mental health (SEMH) needs of students to remove barriers to engagement, well-being, and academic success. A key element is supporting the school's most vulnerable students, including those with attendance difficulties, in successful re-engagement with education.Working hoursMonday 8:30am to 4:30pm
Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday 8:30am-4:00pmFriday 8:30am-3:30pmTerm time only plus 5 days Job requirements
Excellent knowledge of intervention delivery and monitoring techniquesExcellent knowledge of cognition and learning difficultiesKnowledge of specific learning areas including reading, spelling, number skills, vocabulary, and memory skills
An understanding of safeguarding and the duty to promote the welfare of children and young peopleAbility to implement and evaluate a range of individual and small group interventionsSkills to monitor the impact of interventions being deliveredExperience delivering wave 2 interventions to support studentsExperience working as a key worker for students with SEND is desirable. Experience acting as a key worker for students with SEND is desirable
