Crynodeb
To work as an integral member of the Orthoptic/Contact Lens /Low Visual Aid team assisting all members of the team, to ensure that the patients journey, from referral to follow up is effective and efficient. This will include varied administrative duties, word processing, answering telephone enquiries, co-ordination including organisation and implementation of processes of out-patient waiting lists, making / altering appointments and supporting other members of the Orthoptic team. It will include the use of all Trust systems including Medway, choose & book, Medisec, ELFs and Savience ensuring safe data quality collection. To communicate effectively between the multi-disciplinary team including clinicians, management teams and outside agencies including optometrists as well as patients and their carers. To organise waiting lists, clinics, appointments and timetables to ensure Trust and departmental targets and standards are met and maintained. To assist the team in maintaining and ordering stocks and supplies, using the ELFS system for ordering and GRNing. To be competent or to undergo training to become competent in other related technical roles to support the CL/LVA service e.g. topographical scanning, anterior segment imaging, anterior segment OCTs and other diagnostic tests as required. To support the CL specialist in teaching the insertion and removal of contact lenses and instruct patients about adapting to, wearing and caring for contact lenses. To support LVA Specialist in teaching and guiding patients with the use of LVAs.
