Your new company
Hays Recruitment are proud to be supporting a mainstream primary school in Chester that is easily accessible via public transport as they are looking for an experienced and reliable teaching assistant to join their EYFS ASC resource base on a full-time temporary basis. This is an extremely welcoming and supportive school that has a high percentage of SEN. Due to additional funding, they are looking to expand their SEN team and require long-term full-time cover with an ASC base.
Your new role
As a teaching assistant within this school you will be joining a highly experienced and supportive SEN cohort, based within an EYFS ASC designated provision. You will work in collaboration with the class teacher and other teaching assistants to deliver engaging and stimulating lessons by differentiating learning material, tailoring learning to best suit pupil needs, and taking a pupil-led approach as required. You will offer 1:1 support across the class as to ensure that each pupil's individual needs, personality and EHCP are met, with core duties that will consist of:
- Speech and language support: Makaton, PECS, SALT, etc
- Working alongside external professionals, including speech and language therapists
- Implementing positive behaviour strategies including sensory play/therapy, traffic light systems, etc
- Completing personal/intimate care requirements
What you'll need to succeed
To be considered in your application, you must have full "Right to Work" in the UK, referenceable experience supporting adults or children with complex and profound needs, and:
- Experience working with/supporting ASC (Autistic Spectrum Conditions)
- Be comfortable completing personal/intimate care requirements
- Be able to commit to a full-time contract (32.5 hours per week)
