Summary

A Vacancy at Northumbria Healthcare - NHCT Northumbria Healthcare NHS Foundation Trust.

Northumbria Healthcare NHS Foundation Trust is seeking to appoint a Consultant Urological Surgeon (on a full-time or part-time basis).

We are delighted to be able to offer an opportunity for a highly motivated, ambitious individual to join a well-integrated team. This Consultant Urological Surgeon post will be based at Northumbria Healthcare.

The appointment will join a group of 15 Consultant Urologists who work across Newcastle upon Tyne Hospitals and Northumbria Healthcare, alongside a Consultant and Associate Specialist working in Northumbria Healthcare. The Urology Department at Northumbria Healthcare is a spoke of the Newcastle upon Tyne hub. The post will be based between Wansbeck General Hospital and Northumbria Specialist Emergency Care Hospital (NSECH) however the successful candidate will be expected to work Trustwide.

In addition to the challenges of the role, we can offer a commitment to teaching, education, research and audit. The Urology department is also committed to training our Clinical Nurse Specialist Team in diagnostic services. This is an opportunity to join an organisation in which Clinicians are at the forefront of management.

Please note we reserve the right to close this vacancy early if a suitable number of applications are received.

The department would benefit from the appointment of a Urologist with a sub-specialist interest in Urological cancer (including minimally invasive prostate surgery) and same day emergency care. The Job Plan will typically include an average of 10 Programmed Activities for Direct Clinical Care duties and 1.5 Programmed Activities for Supporting Professional Activities and an example of this can be found in the attached job description and person specification.

We manage three major locality hospitals at North Tyneside, Wansbeck and Hexham, plus a number of smaller community hospitals and clinics from Tynemouth to Berwick upon Tweed, covering one of the largest geographical areas of any NHS trust in the country. Leading in innovation and quality – opening a state of the art Northumbria Specialist Emergency Care Hospital, the first of its kind in England. Do you want to work in one of the best performing NHS organisations in England? Work in an organisation that supports its staff and focuses on staff experience as much as it does the experience of its patients? You can live and breathe in an area that has the cleanest air, cost effective living, great nightlife, some of the best schools with a wealth of history available on your doorstep. Sound too good to be true? Well it isn’t, this is what you get when you work for Northumbria Healthcare, this is the Northumbria Way! Please read ‘applicant guidance notes’ before submitting your application.
