Summary

Applicants should be on the Specialist Register or be within 6 months of obtaining CCT at the point of interview. Candidates should be suitably qualified, including eligibility for Section 12 approval and Approved Clinician status. It is envisaged that the post holder will work 10 programmed activities over five days. Following appointment there will be a meeting at no later than three months with the clinical manager to review and revise the job plan and objectives of the post holder. The overall split of the programmed activities is 7.5 activities to be devoted to direct clinical care and 2-2.5 to supporting professional activities (as per the Royal College of Psychiatrists recommendation). The timetable is indicative only. A formal job plan will be agreed between the post holder and associate medical director or clinical manager three months after commencing the post and at least annually thereafter. Programmed activities allocated to direct clinical care, to include: Regular planned out-patient clinics, school clinics, or within specialist residential placements. Complex case discussions where patients vulnerable to or in crisis are discussed. These have been shown to be effective in mobilising effective local support and preventing admissions to hospitals Attendance to Multidisciplinary Team meetings Support to and supervision of trainees, specialty doctors and NMPs Liaison with Consultants from inpatient wards and other mental health teams Administration to support these clinical activities On call duties and emergency work The post-holder will typically have 2 supporting programmed activities to include Audit Appraisal Revalidation CPD Service management and development Teaching Educational supervision Special Interest as detailed above Workload The anticipated workload for the aforementioned post would be around 20-30 patients with some new referrals of every month. The consultant will be expected to have the role of Lead Professional for a small number of these patients (around 10) but the majority would be held within the wider community team.
