Quality Engineer, Birmingham, up to £36k
My client is a leading medium-sized manufacturing company specialising in precision manufacturing of high-quality metal components for the Aerospace sector. They are seeking a proactive and detail-oriented Quality Engineer to join their Quality Team. Their commitment to excellence is reflected in their adherence to rigorous quality standards, including AS9100 and AS9120 certifications.
As a Quality Engineer, you will play a key role in maintaining and improving the Quality Management System (QMS) and ensuring compliance with aerospace industry standards. You will lead investigations into quality issues, drive corrective actions, and collaborate across teams to uphold and enhance product quality.
Reporting to: Quality Manager
Key Responsibilities: -
• Quality Control
• Lead investigations into non-conformities and customer complaints, implementing effective corrective actions.
• Analyse quality data to identify trends, root causes, and opportunities for preventive measures.
• Work closely with production teams to maintain robust quality control processes throughout manufacturing.
• Drive continuous improvement initiatives based on performance data and feedback.
• Assist in delivering training and guidance on quality control procedures to staff.
• Quality Assurance
• Assist in coordinating customer audits to ensure the company remains compliant with the relevant requirements and expectations.
• Assist in supplier audits to maintain the quality of incoming materials and components.
• Assist with certification body audits to maintain company accreditations to various standards (ABS EN 9100, BS EN 9120 etc.).
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to aid in developing and managing the Quality Management System (QMS) effectively.
Requirements: -
• Ideally supporting qualifications.
• Proven experience in quality assurance and control; aerospace experience would be advantageous, but not necessary.
• Skilled in Root Cause Analysis and Corrective Action (8D or similar).
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities.
• Ability to commute to Birmingham.
This is a full-time, permanent role (Monday–Friday).
