About this opportunity
The Capital Programme team is responsible for the core delivery of the Council’s c. £80-100m/year Capital Programme developing projects which make a real ‘on the ground’ difference to our communities, places and people in Westmorland and Furness. On a daily basis the programme develops and maintains new council buildings including care homes, schools, community centres and offices; construct’s and maintains highways and cycleways; build new flood defences; work with partners to enable housing development and drive the council’s internal decarbonisation programme for its services.
The Technical Assistant role will help provide support with an emphasis on the programming, budgeting and cost management of highway works in delivery of the annual highways maintenance programme through the Sustainable Transport and Highways service.
Who we are looking for…
We are looking for a self-reliant and driven individual who has some knowledge of finance systems and experience of dealing with customers and a willingness to learn and work with others. Ideally the candidate will be good with data and have knowledge of IT systems, procurement & cost monitoring in an organisational setting and some experience of the financial and programming aspects used in highway maintenance projects, programmes and works contracts.
We hope you are someone who enjoys working as part of a flexible, well-respected team to deliver high standards of service support and can communicate effectively with internal teams and external suppliers to aid project delivery.
