Come and join our team as Assistant Librarian at University Hospitals Coventry and Warwickshire NHS Trust. You will be part of a friendly and experienced team that supports clinical care, education, research, personal development, and wellbeing.
We provide Knowledge and Library Services in a busy healthcare environment. This will provide you with many opportunities to learn and grow as an information professional. You should have a strong track record of learning, adaptability and a commitment to your own development.
You will have experience of using information resources effectively and delivering high quality customer service. This includes supporting users with varying levels of digital literacy and using new technology in your work.
You will be confident and creative when communicating with users and promoting our services. Being a team player with excellent attention to detail is essential for success in this role.
This is a full-time position. You may work from home one day a week, apart from Mondays and Fridays when you are required onsite at University Hospital Coventry.
Applicants who do not hold CILIP professional registration should be willing to work towards this, and we will provide support.

• Assist in the management, co-ordination and delivery of Knowledge and Library services that effectively support clinical care, education, research, personal development and wellbeing.
• Provide professional assistance in the promotion of Knowledge and Library services to UHCW staff, placement students and applicable stakeholders.
• Take responsibility for specific areas of the service with support from senior staff, while undertaking specific projects to ensure a high-quality service is maintained through continuous development.
• Contribute to the delivery of Knowledge and Library services that align with the vision and values of UHCW NHS Trust.

• Take specific responsibility for proactively marketing and promoting Knowledge and Library services to UHCW staff, students and applicable stakeholders, with guidance from senior staff when required.
• Identify and act upon opportunities to promote user awareness and engagement with Knowledge and Library services, using a range of communication methods and assisting senior staff with planning and co-ordination of activities.
• Assist with the management and provision of the Knowledge and Library Services physical and online resource collection, including usage reporting, evaluation, suggestions for improvement and removal of resources.
• Assist with the management and delivery of the Knowledge and Library Services document supply service, including usage reporting, evaluation, suggestions for improvement and removal of resources.
• Assist with the management of Knowledge and Library Services facilities, supporting the Library Operations Manager with the co-ordination of tasks that ensure the provision of a safe environment that consistently works within local policies and procedures.
• Assist the management of specific budget lines, such as stationery, book purchasing and inter-library loan costs, with guidance from Library Operations Manager.
• Provide library front desk and enquiry duties as required, following procedures to support the information needs of UHCW staff, placement students and relevant stakeholders.
• Promote and deliver inductions for new library members, individually or in groups.
• Assist the planning, promotion, and delivery of individual and group knowledge skills training.
• Provide training and ad hoc support in the use of available electronic resources and user systems such as the catalogue, databases, journals and point of care tools.
• Collect relevant data and support the analysis and presentation of data, including producing reports.
• Undertake evaluation activities to understand the impact and opportunities to develop Knowledge and Library services.
• Undertake advanced evidence-based literature searches for specific user needs.
• Always act in accordance with relevant legislation and information governance requirements, advising users when required, such as in instances applicable to copyright law.
• Contribute to the continual improvement of team working practices and policies, making recommendations for service development.
• Assist with the regular update of information on the UHCW Knowledge and Library Services website and applicable communication channels.
• Support evidence collection required to demonstrate compliance with NHS England’s quality assurance measures.
• Contribute to local and national partnership working as and when required.
• Continuously seek and engage with opportunities for professional development and skill enhancement.
• Actively participate in setting personal objectives and review, including creating a personal development plan and engaging in UHCW NHS Trust's appraisal process.
• Moderate physical activity required, including lifting and organising books, rearranging display equipment, and utilising steps and kick-stools for shelving purposes.
• Regular periods of focused concentration required which may be subject to periodic interruptions.
• Occasional exposure to emotionally challenging material, such as handling resources or information requests that contain graphic or upsetting content.
