We have an exciting opportunity for caring and understanding *female colleagues with a creative nature to join our new service in Milton of Campsie as Support Practitioners on a full-time basis (39 hours per week). You don't need experience in care to start your career with us; we recruit on values and transferrable skills. We’ll give you all the training you need to be an amazing Support Practitioner along with the opportunity to complete a fully funded SVQ.
About Us:
The Richmond Fellowship Scotland provides personalised and outcome-focused support to over 2800 individuals in their own homes across Scotland, making us the country's largest provider of social care. We support individuals with a variety of different needs such as physical and/or learning disabilities, ongoing mental health issues, alcohol or substance abuse and autism. Some of the people we support can present challenging behavior or require a high level of personal care.
The Role:
This is a 2:1 transition service supporting a 17 years old school leaver with autism, learning disabilities and behaviours of concern, who is moving into her first home. It's an exciting time for the young lady and we’ll be looking to you to help support her learn life skills, including cooking and looking after her home along with exploring new hobbies and integrating with her local community.
As a Support Practitioner you will assist with all aspects of daily living including meal preparation, medication, going to appointments and activities, managing personal finances, support with moving and handling and full personal care. The young lady uses Makaton and sign language as communication support and sometimes required the use of a wheelchair while out and about. A few of her hobbies include getting creative with play-doh, doing puzzels, going to the park and a tasty treat from McDonalds.
With your support you’ll reduce social isolation and enable her to grow in confidence and independence.
To be part of our team, we’ll need you to:
Have an empathetic and caring nature.
Good observation skills.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
Confidence in using computers.
Be able to work well in a team environment and on your own.
Good organisational skills.

Shift Patterns
Our new team will provide 24/7 support on a 2:1 basis, our day shifts will be 8am -8pm. Start and finish times may vary as the young lady settles into her new routine. The role will also include working weekends and public holidays on a rotational basis.
We’re looking to fill these posts as soon as possible and reserve the right to close the advert if suitable candidates are found before the advert closes. To avoid disappointment, pop your application in early.

All successful Support Practitioner applicants will be given a conditional offer - this is subject to the receipt of satisfactory references and PVG; having a conviction will not necessarily debar you from working in this sector. All new staff members will be required to register with the SSSC within 3 months of their start date.
