We're working with a long-established waste management and vehicle services company based near Wolverhampton city centre, and they're growing their team. They're now looking for an experienced Senior HGV Mechanic / Workshop Supervisor to take charge of the workshop and help drive the next stage of their expansion.
In this role, you'll be the go-to person for the day-to-day running of the workshop. You'll oversee a fleet of around 50 HGVs, along with various plant and machinery, splitting your time between hands-on mechanical work and leading the team, keeping standards high, and making sure everything runs smoothly and safely.

Key Responsibilities

  • Oversee routine servicing, MOT prep, repairs, inspections, diagnostics and brake testing

  • Plan and manage a strong preventative maintenance schedule for all vehicles and machinery

  • Put clear workshop processes in place to keep everything compliant and efficient

  • Keep on top of maintenance records and compliance paperwork

  • Monitor workshop spend and look for ways to cut costs and increase efficiency

  • Lead, motivate and support the workshop team

  • Help improve and modernise workshop processes and systems

  • Build a positive, safe and collaborative workplace culture

  • Work with external contractors and approve invoices where needed
About You

You'll have a strong background in HGV maintenance and solid experience leading teams in a workshop or transport environment. This role suits someone who enjoys a busy, hands-on setting and takes pride in running a smooth, compliant and productive operation.

Essential Skills & Experience

  • Proven experience in HGV maintenance and repair

  • Previous workshop or team management experience

  • Strong understanding of compliance and vehicle regulations

  • Industry qualifications such as IRTEC or NVQ Level 3 (or equivalent)

  • Good communication, organisation and problem-solving skills

  • A proactive, positive attitude with a strong work ethic
Nice to Have

  • Experience with plant machinery

  • An HGV licence

This is a brilliant opportunity to step into a leadership role within a respected, growing business. If you're ready to take the lead and make a real impact, we'd love to hear from you.
