An exceptional opportunity has arisen for an experienced and inspiring Lead Veterinary Surgeon to join a prestigious Tier 3 RCVS accredited Hospital in Leicestershire, where gold standard patient care, advanced clinical capabilities, and an outstanding team culture combine to create a truly remarkable workplace. This role is perfect for a vet who thrives in a progressive, well-supported environment and is ready to lead, mentor, and help shape the future of a high performing hospital team.

This cutting edge hospital is equipped with an impressive suite of state-of-the-art facilities, including an in-house CT scanner, dental suites with dental X-ray, video endoscopy, ASIF kit, TPLO/TTA/Tightrope systems, arthroscopy, and advanced ophthalmology equipment. With the support of certificate holders across ophthalmology, orthopaedics, soft tissue surgery, and ECC, the Lead Vet will enjoy an extensive and varied caseload spanning both advanced and first opinion work. A dedicated 24 hour nursing and veterinary team ensures seamless patient care and a genuine work–life balance.

The hospital prides itself on its collaborative and knowledge sharing approach. Clinical cases are openly discussed, monthly team meetings encourage communication and development, and in-house CPD is strengthened through close ties with a local referral centre. The practice actively supports certificate study and progress into leadership, offering clear advancement pathways and meaningful recognition for long service and exceptional contributions. Whether your interests lie in clinical excellence, team development, or future leadership roles, you’ll find long term career growth firmly embedded here.

Staff wellbeing is a core priority, supported by a suite of mental and physical wellness initiatives, including monthly wellbeing workshops, development support for emerging leaders, and a culture where people feel heard, valued, and encouraged. As Lead Vet, you will line manage a wonderful team of eight vets, supported by a Practice Manager and Clinical Director, with 0.5 days of dedicated admin time each week to help you lead effectively and sustainably.

The ideal candidate will be RCVS registered with at least five years of general practice experience and confident in key clinical areas including routine neutering, laparotomies, abdominal ultrasound, TFAST/AFAST, GDVs, dental procedures, and 15 minute consults. Line management experience is desirable but not essential, what matters most is your passion for developing people, driving clinical standards, and contributing to a cohesive, positive team culture.

For a driven and compassionate veterinary surgeon seeking a leadership role within a state-of-the-art hospital where excellence, teamwork, wellbeing, and career progression are genuinely prioritised, this role is simply unmissable.
