The Role
This is a maternity/paternity cover position within the Duty and Assessment team. As a Social Worker, you will be responsible for undertaking assessments, managing caseloads, and ensuring timely interventions to safeguard and promote the welfare of children and families. You will work closely with colleagues, partner agencies, and stakeholders to deliver effective outcomes and provide professional advice and support.
Key Responsibilities
Undertake duty and assessment work, including initial assessments and Section 47 enquiries.
Manage a varied caseload, ensuring compliance with statutory requirements and best practice.
Work collaboratively with children, families, and multi-agency partners to achieve positive outcomes.
Prepare clear, concise reports and maintain accurate case records.
Contribute to team meetings, case discussions, and decision-making processes.
Escalate risks appropriately in line with safeguarding procedures.
Support continuous improvement and contribute to service development.
Candidate Requirements
Recognised Social Work Degree or equivalent professional qualification.
Current registration with Social Work England (SWE).
Experience in duty and assessment or frontline child protection work.
Strong knowledge of child safeguarding legislation and statutory guidance.
Excellent communication and organisational skills.
Ability to manage competing priorities and deliver under pressure.
Commitment to professional development and reflective practice.
