We are looking to recruit a personal support worker to provide enabling support to a happy, content 6-year-old boy to allow him to access age appropriate activities outside of the family home. He displays responsiveness to touch and gets distracted with lots of noise; he has a good level of spoken communication. However, he has little to none understanding of risk or danger and requires somebody who can always ensure his safety in an appropriate manner.

Main DutiesSupport is required to enable the child to access age-appropriate community and leisure activities and likes to go on trips either by car or bus to places like soft play including ball pools, swimming, going to parks and beaches where he can walk or go for a run and play with his monster trucks. As well as supporting him and helping him to engage with age-appropriate toys, he loves to get out and about on his electric scooter and go-Kart (He is a bit of Thrill Seeker). Support is required to build up his social and peer relationships.Support with healthy choices of food as he is a atypical “beige” eater, whilst keeping him hydratedSupport with personal care, including changing clothes as required.A full clean driving license and access to your own vehicle with business use insurance is essential, because of location.Hours5 hours per week (x52 weeks) and an additional 5 hours during all school holidays(13 weeks).
Days and times to be discussed at interviews.Rates of pay£13.74 per hour and 5.6 weeks holiday entitlement per Rota. Person SpecificationThe successful applicant must:

  • Have experience and a positive understanding about children who have disabilities
  • Have a genuine interest in working with children with complex needs
  • Have a high degree of initiative
  • Be punctual and reliable as the child cannot be left unsupervised.
  • Be flexible
  • Have a happy, positive and caring nature
  • Respect confidentiality
  • The successful candidate will require an Enhanced Certificate of Disclosure (DBS), cost to be met by employer
