Project Coordinator
£30,000 - £35,000 plus great benefits (Work Level 6B)
Manchester - in this role you'll work in a hybrid way, splitting your time between working from home and occasionally coming into the office for training and team connections (find out more about our hybrid working policy at https://jobs.coop.co.uk/hybrid-working-policy)
We're looking for a Project Coordinator to join our Property team and help keep our projects running smoothly. You'll make sure all the right documents are in place, coordinate suppliers, and support the team with finance and compliance tasks. It's a busy role where no two days are the same, and you'll play a big part in helping us deliver projects on time and to a high standard.
Why this role matters
Behind every successful construction project is great organisation. This role makes sure everything is documented properly, health and safety requirements are met, and suppliers are lined up when needed. You'll help keep projects on track and spot ways to make processes simpler and more efficient. We have a busy pipeline of projects to improve our Co-op estate, and together, we'll make sure our stores and branches remain welcoming, safe, and fit for the future.
What you'll do
* Keep track of upcoming projects and review handover documents, flagging any issues that need fixing or improving
* Make sure all health and safety documentation is complete and stored correctly, including key appointments, all pre-construction information and construction plans
* Manage, organise and file project handover documents, such as O&M (Operation and Maintenance) manuals, when projects finish
* Coordinate suppliers and arrange meetings to keep projects moving
* Raise and reconcile purchase orders and support basic finance tasks
* Build strong working relationships with internal teams and external suppliers
* Carry out spot checks to make sure processes and compliance standards are being followed
* Look for ways to improve processes and make things simpler
What you'll bring
* Proven administrative experience, with excellent organisational skills and ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously
* IT literacy, including Microsoft 365 and intermediate Excel skills (pivot tables, VLOOKUPs)
* A keen eye for detail, and confidence handling documentation and ensuring accuracy and compliance
* Ability to raise and reconcile purchase orders and support simple finance tasks
* Strong communication skills and the ability to build positive relationships with colleagues and suppliers
* A proactive approach to problem-solving and improving how things are done
* Comfortable working in a fast-paced environment and adapting to changing priorities
Why Co-op?
At Co-op, we're owned by our members. And because we're owned by you, we can do right by you. So when you join us, you're not just taking a job, you're joining a movement. We're an organisation that puts people and communities first, and we're powered by purpose. We want this to be a place where you can thrive, so you'll also receive:
* An annual bonus (based on personal and business performance)
* 28 days holiday (rising to 32 with service) plus bank holidays
* A pension with up to 10% employer contributions
* Access to a subsidised onsite gym (at our Manchester HQ)
* 30% discount on Co-op products and 10% off other brands
* Stream - early access to a percentage of your pay as you earn it
* Virtual healthcare including GP appointments, mental health support, nutrition and fitness advice
* 24/7 colleague support service
* Training and support for your development and career progression
* Cycle-to-work scheme
A place you'll belong

We welcome applications from everyone and are committed to creating a workplace where colleagues can feel like they belong, supported by our inclusive policies and the ways we work.
We're proud to be part of the Disability Confident scheme and offer interviews to disabled candidates who meet the minimum criteria for a job. If you need any adjustments during the recruitment process, we'll support you.
