Key Responsibilities Welcome patients warmly, ensuring they feel comfortable, relaxed and informed before blood collection. Verify patient identity accurately and check details against the clinicians request form. Obtain venous blood samples safely and professionally, following practice protocols and infection control standards. Label all samples clearly, legibly and accurately to ensure correct patient identification. Use the correct sample containers and follow appropriate storage and handling procedures. Record details of each blood sample in the patients electronic record in line with practice processes. Prepare, package and dispatch samples to the appropriate laboratory in a timely manner. Identify and report any unexpected findings, sample issues or patient concerns to the Nursing Team. Escalate urgent or significant clinical concerns immediately to the On-Call GP. Maintain a clean, safe and well-stocked clinical environment. Ensure all equipment is used, cleaned and stored according to infection prevention and control policies. Provide support and clear communication to Reception and Administration teams to aid patient flow and coordination.
