Whether you're seeking a meaningful career or a new challenge, this is your opportunity to contribute to life-changing work in a supportive and flexible environment.
We are proud to be an equal opportunities employer and are committed to fostering a diverse, inclusive, and respectful workplace. We value the unique perspectives and experiences that individuals from all backgrounds bring, and we actively encourage applications from underrepresented groups. IDAS is committed to safeguarding children and vulnerable adults, and this role will adhere to safer recruitment procedures in accordance with our organisational policies.
About the Role
National research shows that healthcare professionals in England report high rates of domestic abuse with serious personal and work impacts. Nationally, nurses are three times more likely to experience domestic abuse than the average person.
In this role, you will:
Lead the delivery of the CARE Project: Culture, Awareness, Response, Empowerment - Transforming the NHS’s approach to supporting employees affected by domestic abuse - throughout Sheffield Health Partnership University NHS Foundation Trust (SHPU) and Sheffield Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust (STH). This is a project funded by Sheffield Hospitals Charity.
Manage a team to ensure that people who are experiencing or have experienced domestic abuse receive high quality support, advice and information to enhance their safety and to help them recover the harmful impacts of abuse.
To build positive relationships with a range of health professionals in leadership and positions of power, including but not limited to managers, team leaders, HR, Occupational Health and safeguarding managers, to (a) improve policies and processes encourage early disclosure and enable support, and (b) ensure that their teams know how to recognise domestic abuse, support staff experiencing domestic abuse and be able to refer into IDAS services if needed.
Develop programme of domestic abuse training for healthcare professionals and wellbeing practitioners to break down barriers to support and create a zero-tolerance culture.
Continuously evaluate the project to measure its impact, using a variety of methods, and create a desirable, scalable model for wider NHS adoption.
Hold a small caseload of high-risk clients, offering practical and emotional support.
Oversee case allocation, staff rotas, and performance management.
Ensure safeguarding concerns are addressed and services are delivered in line with IDAS policies.
Liaise with external agencies including police, legal services, housing, and health professionals.
Represent IDAS at MARAC, case conferences, and multi-agency meetings.
Deliver and oversee group programmes for clients.
Champion equality, diversity, and inclusion by ensuring services are accessible and responsive to the needs of all communities, including those who are underrepresented or marginalised.
