Your new company
Hays are currently recruiting for a leading professional services organisation who are seeking a Credit Controller to join their Finance team on a short-term contract. The role is a 37.5 hour working week, with standard hours being 08:30am-5pm Monday to Friday. This role is based in Glasgow City Centre and predominately office-based. This is a fantastic opportunity to work within a high‑volume, fast‑paced environment where accuracy and relationship management are key.
Your new role
As Credit Controller, you will play a vital role in ensuring the prompt payment of cash receivables. Working closely with the Finance Director and wider team, you will be one of two Credit Controllers responsible for managing a busy sales ledger and achieving monthly cash collection targets. Your responsibilities will include:
- Accurate and timely recovery of payments for the organisation's invoices
- Tenacious pursuit of aged debt in line with company policy, including escalation through the legal process where required
- Building strong relationships with partners, technical directors, and administrative staff
- Preparing weekly and monthly reports for Partners
- Providing ad hoc support to the Finance Director and wider Finance team
What you'll need to succeed
To be successful in this role, you will bring:
- Significant experience managing high‑volume and high‑value invoices
- A thorough understanding of the Sales Ledger function
- Strong skills in cash allocation, reconciliations, and resolving client payment issues
- Confidence in liaising with colleagues at all levels of seniority.
- A proactive, problem‑solving approach with the ability to secure payment commitments and follow up on missed promises
What you'll get in return
This is a temporary, office‑based role offering stability and career progression. You will join a supportive Finance team with strong tenure and gain exposure to a diverse portfolio of clients. With an average cash collection target of circa £5M per month shared between two Credit Controllers, this role offers the chance to develop your expertise in high‑value credit control while contributing directly to the success of the company.
