We have an exciting opportunity at WWL for Band 5 Staff Nurses to complete our teams. We have vacancies across a number of our specialities within our 2 Divisions. We are looking for registrants who live to our values and deliver care to our patients that they would expect their loved ones to receive.

We know that work life balance is important and so are pleased to support a number of contracts including but not inclusive of: Permanent, Fixed Term Full/Part Time, Seasonal Hours, Annualised Hours, Term time contracts and a number of flexible working arrangements.

These roles may be ward/clinic/outpatient based.

Roles are available across all of our Wrightington, Wigan and Leigh sites.

• Provide safe, effective nursing care in line with professional standards and local policies.
• Assess, plan, implement and evaluate patient care using evidence‑based practice.
• Administer medications and treatments, maintaining accurate records.
• Communicate clearly with patients, families and the multidisciplinary team.
• Participate in clinical audits, quality improvement and service development.
• Supervise and support junior staff, students and healthcare assistants.
• Maintain professional development and comply with NMC revalidation requirements.
• Promote the vision and values of Wrightington Wigan and Leigh Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust, leading by example and ensuring that they demonstrate those values in their leadership behaviours and how we support our teams and deliver our service.

Senior positions (Band 8a and above) may be expected to participate in an on-call rota.

Essential
• Registered Nurse on the NMC register or newly qualified awaiting PIN
• Relevant nursing qualification (degree, diploma or equivalent).
• Evidence of recent clinical experience or successful completion of preceptorship for newly qualified staff.
• Good communication and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to work effectively within a team and manage competing priorities.
• Commitment to patient safety and continuous improvement.
• Record keeping: Maintain accurate and complete patient records in accordance with professional guidelines and trust policies.
• Professional development: Develop and maintain professional knowledge and skills, participate in clinical audits, and meet revalidation requirements.
• Adherence to policies: Work within the framework of the NMC Code of Conduct and ensure compliance with all trust policies, procedures, and standards, including infection control and health and safety.
• Resource management: Ensure the cost-effective use of resources and report any problems with working practices.
• Safeguarding: Have a duty to safeguard and promote the welfare of children and adults at risk, and report any concerns according to local procedures.
