Paediatric Dietetic Assistant
Are you passionate about nutrition and the role and impact it has on children's wellbeing?
We are looking for the right person to join our team to support in the delivery of excellent nutritional care. The successful applicant will become an essential member of the Paediatric Dietetic Team, supporting them to provide excellent nutritional care and advice for children across Tameside. This will include carrying out dietetic related tasks with children in clinics, their own homes, by telephone, in schools and other care settings, as well as in hospital. The children we care for have a range of medical conditions and we support them with oral nutritional support, and tube feeding. It also entails support of the dietetic service with maintaining equipment and ordering of supplies, sharing responsibility for management of e-mails and messages, and contributing to audit and service development work.
The successful candidate will have strong organisational and communication skills, with a passion for delivering excellence and will be a proactive team player.
To support the Paediatric Dietitians, who work with patients in the community and acute settings, including children with complex medical needs.
· To support families in carrying out dietetic interventions as assessed for and planned by the dietitian. Be able to work independently under the supervision of a responsible practitioner and be responsible for monitoring/assessing the child’s progress, modifying treatment and reporting back to the dietitian as appropriate. This will be in the child's home, school, playgroup/nursery, on the ward or other similar environment in Tameside and Glossop.
· Answer the telephone, take messages and deal with enquiries on behalf of the Paediatric Dietitians team and take the appropriate action
· Deliver/issue/order and collect equipment and feed e.g. for tube fed children requiring feed deliveries at home or the children’s ward requiring a stock of feed products.
· To maintain accurate, contemporaneous records in both patient records and electronic systems in relation to actions undertaken and advice given in accordance with Trust and departmental policies.
To analyse dietary intake / catering menus as required.
To take a shared role in the general organisation of the department, contributing to managing team clinical and non-clinical queries, supporting scheduling work.
