Summary
As a Non-Executive Director (NED) your role will be to work alongside other NEDs, the Chair of the Trust and the Executive Directors as equal members of the unitary Board; using your skills, knowledge and expertise to direct the work of York and Scarborough Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust.
You will have an important part to play in forging strong links with the Council of Governors. The Council is responsible for holding the NEDs to account, both individually and collectively, for the performance of the Board.
You will have expertise in managing change in complex situations, an ability to bring partners together to achieve common goals, and a clear and demonstrable commitment to living and leading to our Trust values: Kindness | Openness | Excellence.
Additionally, you will contribute to the effective leadership of the Trust, helping us to navigate through challenges and capitalise on opportunities.
The Trust is committed to increasing its Board diversity and we are particularly keen to attract candidates who bring diverse perspectives, especially those who are underrepresented at Board level in the NHS.
Our values play into our ambition to develop a more diverse workforce, truly representative of our communities. We welcome applications from everyone, while working with our Staff Networks - including our Race Equality, LGBTQ+, Disability and Carers Networks - to increase the number of applications we receive from different backgrounds. If there is anything we can do to make our application process more accessible to you, please contact: yhs-tr.recruitment@nhs.net.
A full description of the role is available in the attachment: job description.
Across our organisation, people are guided by values that were co-developed with staff: we are kind; we are open; and we pursue excellence.
