Can you inspire, energise and motivate young people aged 9–18?
Do you enjoy making a real difference in the lives of children and young people? Are you looking to join a friendly, supportive team where your contributions are valued, and you’re treated with respect?
If so, we’d love to hear from you!
Our One YMCA Youth Clubs support young people aged 9–18, providing safe spaces to socialise, learn, and grow. In this role, you’ll help deliver engaging sessions and assist with projects, including supporting the opening of new clubs in Bedford town centre.
We’re looking for someone available 2–3 days after school and some evenings each week, with additional time built in for administration - a total of 10 hours per week, paid on a monthly, salaried basis.
Key elements of the role include:
• Supporting the Senior Youth Development Worker in planning, delivering, and evaluating activities for young people aged 11–25, in line with the Youth Work Strategy.
• Delivering and sustaining a range of youth work activities, including outreach, centre-based sessions, school programmes, mentoring, and digital engagement.
• Building positive relationships with young people, providing guidance, encouragement, and opportunities for personal and social development.
• Maintaining accurate records of participation, engagement, and outcomes to support monitoring, evaluation, and reporting.
You’ll report to the Senior Youth Development Worker and help deliver a range of outreach and centre-based youth activities, aligned with the YMCA Youth Work Strategy and Principles.
Training will be provided, so if you’re passionate and willing to learn, this could be the perfect opportunity for you.
We look forward to receiving your application!
Important: We do not provide visa sponsorship; you must be eligible to work in the UK. You must reside in the UK for the duration of your employment and provide Right to Work evidence.
As some of our roles involve working with vulnerable members of society, this position may require a Basic or Enhanced Criminal Disclosure, which will be conducted once a conditional offer is made
Previous Applications: We welcome applications from all qualified candidates. However, if you have applied for a similar role within the last 6 months and were not successful, please consider whether your experience has developed further before reapplying
Accessibility & Adjustments: We are committed to making reasonable adjustments throughout our recruitment process and will strive to be as accommodating as possible. Please inform us in advance of any arrangements you may need to fully participate in the process.
At One YMCA we are an inclusive organisation and actively promote equality of opportunity for all with the right mix of talent, skills, and potential. We do not discriminate on the basis of Age, Disability, Gender Reassignment, Marriage/Civil Partnership, Pregnancy/Maternity, Race, Religion/Belief, Sex and/or Sexual Orientation. We encourage applications from all backgrounds, communities, and industries, and are committed to having a team that is made up of diverse skills, experiences, and abilities.
