Crynodeb
At FCDO Services, we protect the UK’s interests at home and overseas. We design and construct secure government buildings, courier diplomatic packages worldwide, safeguard government tech, and a whole lot more.
Our work is as varied and vital as it gets, but we never lose sight of our people. Their skills, aspirations and growth mean as much as the global mission we're on. In our world, it all matters.
Balancing quality and value is a real skill, and it's one shared by our Commercial team, who make sure we meet the needs of government customers. They're the specialists who shape services with expert insights, win work through expert bid management, and help us reach new customers each day. Now, you’ve got the opportunity to join them.
Understanding customer needs.
Winning exciting bids.
Knowing the impact of your work.
It all matters.
Build relationships, develop an excellent, evolving service
We’re focused on new business to secure profitable and robust revenue pipelines that match our strategic ambitions. We’re set on building strong relationships that generate high customer satisfaction and protect the business with sharp commercial disciplines, processes and governance and provide insights to shape strategy and business improvements.
To help us achieve these aims, you’ll work closely with your line manager on new business and opportunities. You’ll deliver agreed Corporate Plan and RAP revenue and gross margin targets, manage pipeline delivery at a project level. As required, you’ll renew and secure commercial requirements, ensuring that proposals are high quality, customer requirements are addressed and FCDO Services interests protected. Relying on your excellent communication skills, you’ll influence operational relationships and customer experience. You’ll be the escalation point for complex issues.
You’ll develop a deep understanding of and strong relationships with FCDO and higher tier customers, their current and future requirements and stakeholders, decision drivers, budget priorities and operational environment. Driving forward and championing the development of compelling products and services that create better value for FCDO. You’ll manage forecasts, pipeline reports, and customer purchase orders with accuracy. Working with commercial and delivery teams, you ensure reliable planning and propose realistic but stretching targets.
What you’ll bring
You’re an account manager with experience in business delivery, negotiation, forecasting, reporting, business planning and relationship management. This is backed by a record of delivering high quality, efficient and effective sales output. You’re adept at securing business, even in the face of resistance and other issues. This is paired with a knack for managing customers and their expectations, from opportunity right through to commercial completion and delivery. A clear communicator and presenter, you can make even the complex easy to understand, turning on your ability to engage and influence when needed. This extends to leading and supporting your team members. Highly organised, you’re focused on the details, the deadline and the results. Plus, you’re knowledgeable about commercial acumen and financial management reporting.
It would be desirable if you had a degree or Level 6 qualification in business management. Experience in value-based selling, contract management, CRM, private sector best practice, and working in sales in a variety of commercial and/or secure environments would be beneficial. As would experience of product, project or service delivery across a variety of sectors, ideally construction, estates, logistics, FM, ICT, professional services. It would be plus if you’re a professional member of a professional body relevant to customer base, for example, CIPS or RICS.
