The role: You will provide reliable administrative and business support to the service, ensuring day to day tasks run smoothly and in line with council procedures. This includes handling enquiries, supporting meetings, producing documents, maintaining records, and contributing to improved processes.
Key Responsibilities:
Handle enquiries, including technical queries, following set procedures.
Support meetings by arranging agendas, producing minutes and recording live actions.
Prepare, update and maintain spreadsheets, databases and management information.
Provide confidential administrative and secretarial support.
Deliver word processing support including digital, audio or copy typing.
Assist with building-related administration such as repairs and security.
Work with colleagues to embed new business processes and share knowledge to support continuity.
Maintain positive working relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
Provide a professional reception service when required.
Manage petty cash, stock and cash equivalents in line with financial regulations.
Follow council policies on equality, health, safety and confidentiality.
What the client is looking for:
Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Office with confident use of spreadsheets and databases.
Clear written and verbal communication skills.
Good organisation and the ability to prioritise workload to meet deadlines.
Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
Excellent customer service skills with the ability to resolve complex enquiries.
Experience handling confidential and sensitive information.
Competent live minute taking.
Desirable:
Understanding of the council's equality principles and how these shape service delivery.
Experience responding to complex enquiries.
