Working as a key member of the Roads and Transportation Service you will assist in the delivery of one of the key functions of the service.


You will work directly to the Senior Engineer – Road Maintenance delivering the team’s functions and road asset management activities including: safety inspections, condition surveys and the preparation of minor works orders.


Educated to National 5 level or with equivalent transferable experience and skills. Subjects studied must include English, maths and a science/technical/computing subject.


As the job involves driven inspections of roads a full driving licence is required. In addition, applicants should have the ability to read and interpret construction drawings, specifications and bills of quantities; have good written and verbal communication skills; and good interpersonal skills.


Working knowledge of specialist computer software such as GIS, the Scottish Roadworks Register, asset management databases (e.g. Confirm); working knowledge of H&S legislation; experience in local government and/or knowledge of local government working practices; are all desirable.
