We are looking for an enthusiastic and skilled Clinical/Counselling Psychologist or CBT Therapist to join our committed and friendly team of clinicians in our Central Wandsworth & West Battersea Integrated Recovery Hub is one of four multidisciplinary Integrated Recovery Hubs in Wandsworth and provides specialist assessment, treatment and recovery work for adults with a wide variety of severe and enduring mental health difficulties.

Central Wandsworth & West Battersea Integrated Recovery Hub offers a specialist, community-focused mental health and social care service to adults (18-75) whose mental health problems, because of their seriousness or complexity, cannot be effectively treated within primary care. Clinical/professional judgement will determine priority for treatment and support, but in line with policy implementation guidance. The Integrated Recovery Hub ( IRH) service is the central element of mental health service for adults and their relatives/carers.

The post holder will be expected to work in health and other community settings (including outpatient clinics), clients’ and their relatives’ homes, inpatient and other hospital settings, and any other settings in which the client is most appropriately managed.

You will provide cognitive behaviour therapy to patients referred to the Adult Integrated Recovery Hubs (IRHs) in Wandsworth. The post holder is expected to operate within recognised professional guidelines and the overall framework of the Wandsworth Adult Integrated Recovery Hub policies and procedures.

You will work autonomously within professional guidelines and the overall framework of the services’ policies and procedures. To utilise research skills for audit, policy and service development and research within the area served by the team/service.

1. To provide CBT assessments of clients referred to the Adult Community Mental Health Teams based upon the appropriate use, interpretation, and integration of data from a variety of sources including self-report measures, rating scales, direct and semi-structured interviews.

2. To design and implement plans for the formal CBT treatment and/or management of a client’s problems, based upon an appropriate conceptual framework of the client’s problems, and employing methods based upon evidence of efficacy.

3. To be responsible for implementing a range of individual, family and group interventions based upon evidence of treatment efficacy, and which rely primarily upon CBT models.

4. To evaluate and make decisions about CBT treatment options considering both theoretical and therapeutic CBT models and complex factors concerning historical and developmental processes that have shaped the individual or group.

5. To engage in the assessment, treatment and discharge of clients in liaison with the multi-disciplinary team. To provide specialist CBT advice guidance and consultation to other professionals contributing directly to clients’ formulation, diagnosis and treatment plan.

6. To contribute directly and indirectly to a CBT based framework of understanding and care to the benefit of all clients of the service, across all settings and agencies serving the client group.

7. To undertake risk assessment and risk management for individual clients and to provide advice to other professions on CBT approaches to aspects of risk assessment and risk management.

8. To communicate in a skilled and sensitive manner, information concerning the assessment and CBT treatment plans of clients under their care and to monitor progress during the course of treatment.
