The National & Specialist CAMHS Enhanced Treatment Service (ETS) is seeking a Highly Specialist Psychologist/Psychological Therapist/Psychotherapist/Arts Therapist/Family and Systemic Therapist to join our dynamic multi-disciplinary team for a 10-month maternity cover post. This specialist role is central to delivering high‑quality psychological care to children, young people, and families who require intensive support beyond the scope of community CAMHS.
The postholder will provide expert psychological assessment, formulation, and intervention for young people aged 12–18 accessing our service. You will work autonomously within professional guidelines while contributing to a collaborative, psychologically safe environment where staff, service users, and carers can thrive.
A key part of the role involves offering clinical leadership through supervision and consultation, supporting colleagues across ETS and the wider intensive and crisis pathways. You will also play an active role in service development through audit, evaluation, and research initiatives.
This is an exciting opportunity to join a well‑established, innovative service based at the Maudsley Hospital. Our team includes professionals from a range of backgrounds working together to provide intensive, recovery‑focused care. ETS supports young people transitioning from inpatient settings back into the community, as well as those requiring an alternative to admission when Tier 3 CAMHS is not viable.
You will be part of a multidisciplinary team, and responsible for the psychological assessment, formulation and treatment interventions for children and young people with complex mental health needs in a Tier 4 CAMHS service. This will include individual and group sessions, for young people and parents, as well as contributing to risk management, care plans and managing caseloads. You will also be responsible for the supervision of junior psychologists (including youth intensive psychological practitioners and trainee psychologists). You will also contribute to the effective working of the team and to a psychologically informed framework for the service.

In this role you will mostly be expected to work Monday to Friday in the time frames from 9 to 5, however there may be a request to work one evening to facilitate a parent group.
You would be joining a committed and highly experienced multi-disciplinary team, with a focus on continuing service improvement and supporting the young people to reach their potential. There is a strong emphasis on supporting the parents and carers and close liaison with the community teams working with each young person. There is also a school on site, which offers opportunities for close collaboration.
To provide highly specialist Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) and Dialectic Behavioural Therapy (DBT) expertise to children and young people supported by the team
To offer advice and consultation on clients’ psychological care to other members of the team in relation to clinical psychology highly specialist knowledge and skills including CBT, DBT, neuropsychology, knowledge of neurodevelopmental presentations.
To provide other specialist clinical psychology support to the Centralised Crisis Services including group work, training, consultation, audit and support for junior staff within the service including supervision where appropriate.
To support and lead on service development and enhance the offer for children and young people with mental health needs across the services.
To participate in collating outcomes/ results with clinical/professional lead and support/lead on areas of service improvement, service pathway developments and review.
