About us

This is a fantastic time to join Team Salford. The city is being transformed through unprecedented levels of development and investment and this growth trajectory is set to continue. Positive change can be seen on the ground across new City Centre neighbourhoods including Chapel Street, Greengate, Middlewood Locks and New Bailey, the landmark MediaCity development at Salford Quays (which is set to double in size), the UK’s first tri-modal port at Port Salford and the Royal Horticultural Society’s 5th garden RHS Garden Bridgewater. However, this is very much a job just started in delivering the next waves of sustainable and inclusive growth across our strategic growth locations, with the city on track to deliver circa 40,000 new homes and circa 40,000 new jobs by 2040. You can read more about why Salford is a city to watch.

At the heart of our plans for development is our vision to create a fairer and more inclusive local economy that delivers greater social and environmental justice, where wealth is shared more widely across all our communities.

It is within this context that we are now seeking a Build Salford Partnership Manager role to join our Skills and Work team linked to our ambitions to deliver inclusive growth. As a key part of our Build Salford programme, we are seeking to maximise the social value delivered through construction in the city and work with our developer and contractor partners to secure outcomes for local people, whilst also supporting industry skills needs.

We are seeking a new team member to bring experience, ideas and new perspectives to Salford and make a direct, visible, positive contribution to Salford’s inclusive growth ambitions for the benefit of our diverse communities.

Whilst the role sits within the Skills and Work team, there is clear connectivity to the wider Place Directorate teams including planning, housing and regeneration. The role will support the integration of a new Social Value Strategy for the City alongside colleagues.

About the Role

Are you passionate about supporting communities and linking them to skills opportunities? Can you strategically influence the construction sector to deliver on their commitments to communities?

It is an exciting time to join the team as we continue embedding our Build Salford ambitions to provide a well connected network of construction industry partners including developers, contractors and supply chains, plus wider skills and work partners across training, education and support services. The main goal of the role is to provide strategic support and influence social value and CSR commitments, as well as supporting industry to meet their skills and talent requirements for the future workforce. The role has an eclectic network of stakeholders and the role will be across industry, training and education and community partners.

About you

We are seeking a self-driven and experienced project leader with expertise in skills pathways, programme design, and stakeholder engagement. Passionate about raising aspirations and improving social mobility through innovative, place-based opportunities. Knowledge of the construction industry, with an understanding of skills and workforce needs and how social value can support skills needs.
