Working arrangements:
Are you passionate about delivering meaningful experiences and exceptional service to the public? We’re looking for Casual Celebrant & Deputy Registrars to join our dedicated team supporting life’s most significant moments. You will join an established team and be trained and supported to deliver ceremonies as well as register births, deaths and notices. No two days are the same and the variety the role offers will be matched by your flexibility to deliver a range of key services.
We’re proud of the exceptional customer service that underpins everything we do and will equip you with all the technical skills and training you need to meet the legal requirements of our customers in a compassionate and empathetic manner. We will work with you to plan our staffing requirements 6-8 weeks in advance, so you will always know in advance when you will be working. However, there will also be occasions where we ask for short notice availability, such as urgent marriages.
We deliver our services 7 days a week and the ability to travel throughout the Borough of Reading is essential. Ceremonies can take place at the Reading Museum and Town Hall and the Civic Offices, as well as licenced venues across the local authority area. Appointments to register life events are also offered at the Archives, based at the Crematorium Office on Henley Road.
We seek the best talent from the widest pool of people as diversity and inclusion is the key to our success. Reading Borough Council is a Disability Confident Employer and is committed to the recruitment and continued employment of people with disabilities.
