What you'll be doing

Do you want to be a part of the team that protects history for generations to come?

We are looking for two Storage Technicians to join the UK Parliament's Heritage Collections Team.

In this hands-on role, you'll play a key part in relocating and consolidating the nation's Parliamentary heritage collections. You'll play a vital role in ensuring our historic collections are handled safely at every stage of the process. This includes working closely with and supervising specialist transport and handling contractors during packing, decant, moves, and re-stowage. You'll collaborate with colleagues and provide expert advice on object packing and handling techniques to maintain the highest standards of care. Alongside the practical work, you'll use tools such as spreadsheets and our Collections Management System (CMS) to keep accurate location records and support the smooth execution of moves.

What we're looking for.

  • Heritage expertise - Experience in collections management and object movement within museums, galleries, historic houses, or similar heritage settings.
  • Collections care know-how - Solid understanding of standards, processes, and security in collections care, plus hands-on experience moving a variety of historic objects.
  • People skills - Ability to build strong relationships and work confidently with stakeholders at all levels, always promoting equality, diversity, and inclusion.
  • Meticulous attention to detail - Ensuring the right objects are moved, records are accurate, and everything complies with health, safety, and collection care standards.
