Join Moray Council as a Building Standards Officer
Are you ready to shape the built environment and ensure safety and compliance across Moray? We’re looking for a Building Standards Officer to join our Growth, Planning and Climate team in Elgin.
Ideally, we’re seeking a fully qualified professional with experience in a Local Authority Building Standards environment. However, we also welcome applications from candidates with relevant qualifications or experience who are keen to develop in the role. For those not yet professionally qualified, we offer a structured Career Grade Scheme with training, mentoring, and support to help you gain the necessary qualifications and progress your career.

Requirements
What You’ll Do
- Verify Building Warrant applications and Completion Certificates
- Conduct site inspections and ensure compliance with Building Regulations
- Provide expert advice to applicants, agents, and the public
- Contribute to service improvements and performance targets
What We’re Looking For
- A degree or HNC in a building-related discipline
- Significant relevant experience (ideally in a Local Authority Building Standards environment)
- Strong communication and analytical skills
- A team player with a flexible, proactive approach

Starting Salary: Career Grade 7-9 £34,778.25 - £49,273.90
£18.45 to £26.14 per hour.
36.25 hours per week (52 weeks per year)
