Job Advert

Torus is seeking an experienced Housing Management Solicitor to join our Legal Services team. This is an exciting opportunity to
be part of a high-performing, collaborative team, delivering responsive and professional legal support across the Group.

You will manage a caseload covering housing management matters, including anti-social behaviour, possession actions, disrepair
claims, compliance injunctions, succession, and trespass cases. You will also have line management responsibility for two junior
housing solicitors and a disrepair case handler, supporting their development and performance.

This role requires a candidate who is confident handling pre- and post-issue cases across claimant and defendant disciplines,
drafting pleadings, statements, and interlocutory applications, and representing Torus in court (excluding trials).

This is a hybrid role, predominantly based in our Liverpool office, with regular travel to our St Helens and Warrington offices in
line with business needs. There is flexibility to work from home, however, team days will be held in Liverpool on Monday, Tuesday,
and Thursday.

What You Will Be Doing:

* Managing a caseload of housing management cases, including anti-social behaviour, possession actions, disrepair claims,
compliance injunctions, succession, and trespass.
* Drafting pleadings, statements, and interlocutory applications, and representing Torus in court (excluding trials).
* Providing clear, practical legal advice to internal teams and stakeholders.
* Taking ownership of cases, identifying risks, and implementing appropriate controls.
* Supporting and developing your team through line management, mentoring, and training opportunities.
* Collaborating with colleagues across the Group to ensure services are delivered efficiently and provide value for money.
* Keeping up to date with relevant legislation, regulations, guidance, and company policies.
* Promoting a safe, fair, and inclusive working environment through Equality, Diversity, and Health & Safety compliance.

What We Are Looking For:

* Qualified solicitor with recognition by the SRA or equivalent professional body.
* Significant experience in housing management law, including possession, disrepair, anti-social behaviour, and injunctions.
* Proven experience in managing and developing a legal team.
* Knowledge of government policy and regulatory expectations in the housing sector.
* Strong project management skills, with flexibility to adapt to changing priorities and workloads.
* Excellent interpersonal, influencing, and communication skills, with the ability to engage effectively with colleagues,
tenants, and external stakeholders.
* High levels of IT literacy and familiarity with digital tools and new ways of working.

Interview Process:

* Candidates will be invited to in-person interviews, which will include a competency-based interview and a presentation. Full
details of the presentation brief will be provided once you are invited to interview.

Additional Information:

Each successful applicant will be required to complete the following pre-employment checks prior to a start date being agreed:

* Right to work verification
* Qualification certificate check
* 2x Completed references
* OH Health Questionnaire – Fit For Work
* DBS check (if required for role)
* Completion of all new starter documentation including signed T&C’s
