Summary

Acorn by Synergie is searching for a Purchasing & Supply Chain Manager to join our client, a chemical manufacturer based in Cheshire.

Reporting to the Managing Director and forming a key part of the management team, the purpose of the role is to take responsibility for all supply chain and purchasing functions at the site.

Key Accountabilities:

  • Play an active role as part of the site management team, contributing to business strategy and ensuring strong operational and service performance.
  • Lead, develop, and motivate the Supply Chain and Purchasing team, enhancing both collective performance and individual capability.
  • Lead and oversee all site supply chain operations, including purchasing, logistics, and production planning.
  • Ensure timely, cost-effective fulfilment of customer and intercompany demand, aligned with S&OP plans and in close cooperation with management colleagues and external partners.
  • Monitor operational execution and resolve critical issues to maintain or exceed agreed service levels.
  • Drive continuous improvement in cost efficiency, process effectiveness, and service performance.
  • Procurement of raw materials, utilities, major capital items, and other key goods and services.
  • Oversee and support the purchasing of engineering goods, services, and lower-value items in collaboration with relevant colleagues.
  • Continuously improve site purchasing and supply chain processes to ensure compliance, efficiency, and sustainability.
  • Define, track, and deliver KPIs and targets across all areas of responsibility, ensuring alignment with business objectives.
  • Lead or support purchasing and supply chain projects within the wider group and facilitate their implementation at local level.

Skills required:

  • It is essential that the successful candidate is a skilled and experienced negotiator at all levels.
  • Must have extensive relevant professional experience in a purchasing and supply chain related role, ideally with experience of working within both disciplines.
  • Ideally extensive professional experience in a management role, demonstrating an ability to manage people and relationships. Level 6 CIPS qualified.
