Are you a compassionate graduate with aspirations of becoming a teacher or educational psychologist? A welcoming primary school in Islington is seeking a dedicated SEN Teaching Assistant to provide 1:1 support for a child in KS1 with additional needs. This is a unique opportunity to gain meaningful, hands-on experience in a nurturing school setting.

As a SEN Teaching Assistant, you’ll work closely with the class teacher and SENCO to implement tailored support strategies that help your assigned pupil thrive both academically and emotionally. This experience is especially valuable for graduates aiming to move into teaching or further study in psychology or SEN.

What You’ll Be Doing:

• Providing dedicated 1:1 support for a KS1 pupil with additional needs
• Supporting literacy, numeracy, and communication development
• Helping manage behaviour using positive reinforcement techniques
• Collaborating with teachers, SENCO, and external specialists
• Monitoring and recording progress and behaviour
• Creating a calm, engaging, and safe learning environment

Ideal SEN Teaching Assistant For this Islington School:

• Graduate with a 2:1 or above (Psychology, Education or related degrees welcome)
• Interest in working with children with SEND
• Passionate about early years and inclusive education
• Calm, patient, and emotionally intelligent
• Looking for long-term experience before PGCE, Schools Direct or Ed Psych pathways
• Able to commit full-time, Monday to Friday
