We have an opportunity for a suitably experienced professional for the role of Trade Waste Officer within the Waste and Recycling Department, based at Carlu Close, Willand.

You will be able to demonstrate effective team working and problem solving skills and the ability to combine these with a confident and resilient personality. Dealing with customer enquiries and correspondence ensuring efficiency and accountability whilst adhering to relevant legislative provisions, council policy and financial regulations. Previous experience working in a fast paced environment is desirable.

You will be used to working under pressure, to tight deadlines and cope with conflicting priorities. As well as literate and numerate, you will need to interrogate and input data into a variety of software systems which requires an eye for detail and accuracy, and you will be able to communicate well at all levels

The successful candidate will be able to work in a team and on their own initiative.

You will work 37 hours per week. A degree of flexibility will be required to cover some occasional weekend and evening working to meet service demands. There will be opportunity to work remotely on occasions and a flexi-time working arrangement is in place for this role.

You will be required to:-

• Maintain and develop customer base
• Undertake trade/commercial waste and recycling initiatives
• Actively seek out and develop new business across Mid Devon
• Visit and survey new and existing customers, offering guidance and support where required
• Support trade waste enforcement work

Previous knowledge of trade waste, sales and customer service is essential.

A full driving licence is required for the role.

A satisfactory basic disclosure check and three years complete employment history will be required for the successful applicant.
