Following a review of the environment and re-structure of In-Patient Services we have an opportunity to recruit a part time (16 hours per week) Band 8A Ligature Minimisation Lead for Prospect Park Hospital, to work directly with our ISS and Prospect Health partners, and the In-Patient clinical Teams to reduce the potential harm to patients due to environmental ligature risks.  

Prospect Park Hospital is based in Reading, located close to the amenities of the town centre and a leafy park, the wards work closely with patients and families to help them to identify their needs and participate actively in their care, providing a place of empathy, kindness, and compassion.  Berkshire Healthcare has an Outstanding CQC rating and a culture where everyone has a voice and where service users and staff collaborate to make positive change.

We are looking for an experienced clinician who has worked within Acute In-patient mental health settings and has a good understanding of the environmental risks associated with fixed ligatures. The person needs to have a proven track record of delivering training and developing others as well as the required communication skills to quickly develop trusted relationships with both clinical and estates colleagues. He/she must be capable, reliable, highly organised, warm, and dynamic professional who has previous experience of working at Band 8a level and in working across systems and boundaries to achieve clearly identified goals.
• Lead the ligature minimisation process across Berkshire Healthcare.

• Leading on audit processes and working with teams to develop operational and technical solutions.

• Collaborate withnumerousstakeholders including CQC, NHSE, Clinicians, Compliance & Risk Teams, Estates and Facilities Teams (both PFI and Trust teams) and Divisional Leadership team for all aspects of ligature minimisation.

• Facilitate the development of the ISS Teamin the area ofharm minimisation and environment ligature risks.

FOR SECONDMENT ROLES ONLY - If the secondment role becomes permanent, the successful candidate may be offered the permanent position.

Some of the must haves for you to be considered for this role: 
• Registered Healthcare Professional (e.g. RMN, S/W OT)
• Previous experience of working within Acute Mental Health In-Patient settings.
• Evidence of ongoing relevant professional development and self-improvement to support patient experience.
• Excellent oral and written communication skills and ability to use these both on the ward and in other internal/ external forums and situations.
• Previous experience of Teaching or training and working across other professional groups.
