A Vacancy at Chelsea and Westminster Hospital NHS Foundation Trust.
The Clinical Fellow post is an exciting opportunity for post-Foundation Year doctors to gain extensive experience in geriatric and general medicine . Applications are welcome for Junior Clinical Fellow (post FY2) or Senior Clinical Fellow (post IMT training / Registrar grade) tiers.
The role involves participating in a rota that includes caring for geriatric and general medical patients, being part of a consultant-led team, and engaging in ward and board rounds. The Clinical Fellow will also have opportunities to participate in departmental and Trust initiatives, as well as Quality Improvement projects. The role is available with or without an out of hours oncall commitment.
Geriatric Medicine at Chelsea and Westminster cares for older people, covering a range of conditions from falls through to complex conditions where more than one problem is present, such as cancer or heart disease. Both teams also work closely with other specialties across the hospital to ensure that each and every person in their care has a complete assessment of their health needs.

You will be part of a consultant led team of other registrars and junior doctors and participate in daily Board rounds. There will be consultant ward rounds of new patients, with SpR led ward rounds of existing patients. There may be opportunity for interested individuals to carry out supervised outpatient clinics and MDTs.
· Inpatient Care:Provide comprehensive care for inpatients under the geriatric and general medical specialties. This includes conducting thorough assessments, developing and implementing treatment plans, and monitoring patient progress.
· Ward Rounds:Participate in consultant-led ward rounds for new patients and registrar-led rounds for existing patients. This ensures continuous, high-quality care and facilitates learning from experienced senior medical staff.
· Multidisciplinary Collaboration:Work closely with consultants, registrars, junior doctors, nurses, therapists, and other healthcare professionals to ensure coordinated and effective patient care.
· Clinical Management:Assess and manage patients using appropriate clinical guidelines and protocols. This involves making informed decisions about patient care and seeking support from senior staff when necessary.
· Quality Improvement:Engage in departmental and Trust initiatives aimed at improving patient care and service delivery. This includes participating in Quality Improvement projects and contributing to the development of best practices.
We provide services from two main hospitals, Chelsea and Westminster Hospital and West Middlesex University Hospital, and a number of clinics across London and the South-East.
