Are you looking for a career where your IT network expertise keeps one of the UK’s busiest rail networks connected, secure, and moving every day?

We are seeking an IT Network Manager to join our team based from our Head Office in London Bridge (hybrid working).

2025 is the 200th anniversary of the first-ever passenger rail journey, so we’re celebrating our proud history and our bright future.

Can you move people? Apply now. What you’ll do

You will provide inspirational leadership to your network team responsible for keeping Southeastern’s mission-critical network running smoothly across over 200 sites in the South East — including stations, depots, offices, and data centres.

Our train operations depend on this network, so reliability and performance are key.

As we finalise our transition from a legacy setup to a modern Fortinet SD-WAN infrastructure, you’ll play a vital role in shaping the future of our connectivity. This is your chance to be part of a major transformation journey ensuring that the new technology is fully optimised and deployed.

Supporting the Head of IT, you will be accountable for the performance and security of the organisations network and work with our network circuit providers and core switch support partners to ensure network uptime is maximised whilst ensuring the integrity, security and performance of the network traffic is maintained.

You will also lead on ad-hoc business projects as our network SME and play a vital role in IT governance.

The experience you’ll need

To be considered for this role we recommend you demonstrate the below in your application;

  • SD-WAN experience – ideally Fortinet/Fortigate (critical requirement).
  • Strong understanding of networking fundamentals and implementations.
  • Knowledge of network security principles and securing networks against threats.
  • Familiarity with traffic management, performance monitoring, and automation.
  • Awareness of external threats and ability to keep the network resilient.
  • Focus on continual improvement and leveraging full capability of existing kit.
  • Ability to lead, coach, and develop a team
  • Ability to balance large workloads and prioritise effectively.
  • Able to communicate clearly and manage stakeholder expectations.
  • Calm under pressure – can drop everything in a crisisand be hands on.

As proud members of the Armed Forces Covenant and Disability Confident Scheme, we will offer you an interview if you apply under these schemes and meet the minimum criteria for the role. Find out more here.
