Crynodeb
Job Description
To complete the necessary BSc (Hons) Environmental Health degree or MSc Degree in Environmental Health with Professional Practice.
To participate in the necessary training to achieve the following, which is the standard required of a fully qualified Environmental Health Officer.
To assist in achieving the Environmental Health Section’s aim to maintain and improve environmental conditions to the benefit of public health through the provision of high-quality, cost-effective services (including advice) and enforcement of statutes.
Requirements
To enforce and advise on the provisions of the Food Hygiene (Scotland) Regulations 2006, Food Safety Act 1990, General Food Regulations 2004 and associated legislation.
To enforce and advise on the provisions of the Health and Safety at Work etc Act 1974 and associated legislation.
To enforce and advise on the provisions of the Public Health etc. (Scotland) Act 2008, Environmental Protection Act 1990, Clean Air Act 1993, Refuse Disposal (Amenity) Act 1978, and other relevant legislation.
To enforce and advise on the provisions of the Housing (Scotland) Act 1987-2006.
To enforce and advise on the provisions of the Caravan Sites and Control of Development Act 1960, approved Standards and Licence Conditions.
To enforce and advise on the provisions of the Prevention of Damage by Pests Act 1949 and associated legislation.
To enforce and advise on the Riding Establishments Acts 1964-70, Breeding of Dogs Act 1973-91, Dangerous Wild Animals Act 1976, Animal Boarding Establishments Act 1963, Pet Animals Act 1951 and associated animal welfare legislation.
Liaise with the Consultant in Public Health Medicine, Grampian Health Board, in
terms of the Public Health (Scotland) Act 2008.
Inter-departmental liaison.
To carry out any other duties which may be reasonably required from time to time.
Contribute to the formulation and implementation of and complying with the objectives, policies and procedures of the Environmental Health section.
The Individual
Relevant experience in food safety and/or health and safety at work and/or environmental protection and/or public health and/or other general duties relating to Environmental Health.
Qualified to degree level in an appropriate discipline.
Confirmation from the University offering a REHIS accredited Environmental Health degree or Masters degree that the above qualification is accepted as suitable pre-entry qualification to access their course.
Excellent oral/written communication skills.
Analytical approach.

Negotiating Skills.
Self confident and self motivated.
Sound knowledge of range of Environmental Health duties.
Ability to work on own initiative and record information accurately.
You will be expected to travel efficiently and effectively between various work locations within Moray to meet the operational requirements of the Service. Due to the rural nature of Moray this is normally undertaken by use of a car/van.
Ability to work on own initiative and to meet strict deadlines.

Starting Salary: £34,778.25 or £18.45 per hour.
36.25 hours per week / 52 weeks per year
