We are seeking a pragmatic, supportive, and compassionate Head of Year who has experience in supporting students in pastoral, behaviour and attendance needs. You are an incredible advocate of young people who is passionate about their success and actively working with students to support incredible outcomes. Your passion for pastoral support is demonstrated in your daily work and you are willing to contribute to wider opportunities for students to further engage and support them in their success at school.

The Academy is looking for someone who has:

• Ambition for all students to be successful by effectively working as part of a pastoral team to remove barriers to learning;

• Resilience to adapt and support in a range of circumstances so that all students achieve;

• Ambition for your own development and learning;

• Excellent knowledge of behaviour and attendance interventions;

• The ability to understand and work with data to monitor and intervene as appropriate with students and identify impact in your work.

Your key responsibilities will include:

• Monitoring and supporting student behaviour in a designated year group, ensuring that students maintain the expected standards of the school;

• Effectively communicating with parents and other stakeholders as necessary to support students in achieving incredible outcomes;

• Monitoring and supporting student attendance in a designated year group, ensuring that students maintain the expected levels of attendance and supporting early intervention if required;

• Supporting the Safeguarding team by raising awareness of early intervention and providing support if required;

• Undertaking supervisory duties during breaks, lunches and periods of transition during the day to ensure smooth running of the daily life at the school;

• Issuing and carrying out appropriate praise and sanctions in line with the school’s behaviour policy.
