About the role

The Royal Albert Memorial Museum are seeking an experienced, creative and passionate Café Manager at an exciting time of development, as we test and diversify our Café offer.’

A flagship service of Exeter City Council, the Royal Albert Memorial Museum & Art Gallery (RAMM), is a world class museum, a place of discovery which encourages everyone to be curious. Its stunning displays reveal Devon and Exeter’s rich history and global connections, and a changing programme of exhibitions and events is inspired by the museum’s collections. In 2012 RAMM won the much-coveted Art Fund ‘Museum of the Year’ award in recognition of its innovative and thoughtful redisplay.

A busy and active service welcoming almost 200,000 visitors each year, making the café manager pivotal in shaping and delivering our visitor experience. As a part of the museum operations team, you will work closely with the Retail Manager, Visitor Services Manager and Venue Hire Officer. Building relationships and good communication with the collections and audience development teams and wider culture services areas will be key to the success of the role.

RAMM launched its own café in early 2025, after many years of the museum having an external provider operating. Currently RAMM's café is mirroring the City Council's flagship St Sidwell’s Point leisure centre’s café. A funded project is about to commence to research and develop our offer. We are ambitious and are engaging a speciality consultant to explore the potential of our café.
