What skills and experience we're looking for
Clyst Vale is a thriving and vibrant 11- 18 Community College situated five miles from Exeter. Visitors to Clyst Vale usually comment on the friendly, orderly atmosphere, the courtesy of our students, and the purposefulness in lessons. We have clear expectations and systems, but far more important are the excellent working relationships we establish between staff and students, as well as staff and parents. We remain the only Secondary school in Devon to be accredited Gold Rights Respecting School status.
The Role
Starting in November, we are looking to recruit a professional and motivated Science and Food Technician to join our highly successful Science and Technology teams. This role is being advertised as a Grade B position and would be ideal for someone who may be looking at a career in teaching and wants to gain first hand experience of working in a school.
You will need to have good interpersonal and communication skills, be able to work as part of a team and have excellent planning and organisational skills.
Principal duties for the Food Technician part of the role includes preparation of ingredients and equipment; placing food shops online and in person; overseeing food budget; maintain general tidiness and organisation of the food department.
Principal duties for the Science Technician part of the role includes providing assistance to Senior Science Technician and/or Technician; preparing resources and equipment; delivering and collecting equipment/resources from classrooms; general admin tasks such as photocopying/printing/filing.
Previous experience of working in a school and possession of a Level 2 Food Hygiene Certificate would be advantageous but are not essential as full training will be given.
Hours of work:
The role is split into two parts-
Monday-Friday 17.5 hrs per week (08:00-11:30) (Food Technology Department)
Monday-Thursday 18 hrs per week (11:30-16:30) (Science Department)
There is some flexibility around these hour and how they are split and this can be discussed at interview.
