Are you passionate about public service and ready to make a meaningful impact in the community? Bury Council is seeking a dynamic and motivated Lead Officer Supportive Collection to join our Corporate Collection and Support team.

In this senior officer role, you’ll provide expert advice to residents, tenants, and businesses on welfare rights, income maximisation, and debt management. You’ll help people access the support they need, stay financially resilient, and maintain their tenancies.

Your time will be split between working within the community based as well as some home and office working.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Providing expert advice on welfare benefits and financial support.
  • Helping residents manage debt and maximise their income.
  • Supporting the collection of housing rents in a fair and effective way.
  • Working in community settings like libraries, as well as by phone and online.
  • Making sure people get the help they need at the first point of contact.
  • Supporting court-related activities like eviction hearings and rent recovery.
  • Helping improve how we collect Council Tax, Business Rates, and other payments.
  • Working closely with other teams to make sure vulnerable residents are supported.

About You

We’re looking for someone who is:

  • Customer-focused with excellent communication skills.
  • Organised and detail-oriented with a commitment to accuracy.
  • Comfortable working independently and as part of a team.
  • Proficient in using digital systems and managing data.
  • Adaptable and willing to work in both community and remote settings.
