We're looking for a passionate Social Media Assistant to join us in strengthening our digital presence and engagement with younger audiences across platforms like TikTok, Instagram, and YouTube. This role is critical in expanding our creative capacity to deliver impactful content that truly resonates with young people, supporting the objectives of both Barnardo's and Co-op.
What You'll Do
Support the creation, optimisation, and delivery of both paid and organic social media campaigns focused on youth engagement.
Collaborate closely with our Young Content Creators, Youth Advisory Group, and young people involved in our services to produce authentic, values-aligned content.
Manage reputational risks and safeguard Barnardo's brand while amplifying the voices of young people.
Use data and insights to help shape engaging, creative content strategies that increase reach and impact.
Assist in campaign monitoring, reporting, and optimisation to meet partnership KPIs.
What We're Looking For
Experience in video production and content creation for social media platforms, especially TikTok.
A genuine passion for working alongside children and young people, with a commitment to safeguarding and ethical content creation.
Strong collaboration skills to work effectively with internal teams, partners, and youth groups.
Ability to think creatively and strategically in a fast-evolving digital landscape.
An understanding of the challenges young people face, particularly around mental health and wellbeing, is highly desirable.
About the Impact
Recent research by Co-op and Barnardo's shows that many young people struggle with their futures and mental health. This role directly supports our mission to change that narrative by empowering young voices and providing meaningful online content. You'll be part of a dynamic team dedicated to future-proofing Barnardo's digital engagement and ensuring that our social media content not only reaches but truly supports young audiences.

Pay & Reward Framework
We know that our colleagues go above and beyond in delivering our vital work, driven by their passion and commitment to Barnardo's values. We also know that we can only realise our ambitions and achieve better outcomes for more children, thanks to the talent, hard work and creativity of our people.
For all these reasons, we are committed to a new approach to pay and reward, to ensure it is fair, attractive and progressive, which was rolled out in April 2023. This is a positive change for the charity, and a part of our People & Culture Strategy. It will assist us in supporting colleagues to belong, thrive and grow in their colleague journey at Barnardo's and in time will offer clear routes of progression for colleagues in both their career and their pay.
Whilst the full pay band and salary range is advertised, our approach to starting salaries is to appoint between the minimum to mid-point of the pay band – this ensures that pay steps are available to reward our colleagues annually based on their contribution to excellence and alignment to our values and behaviours. More details on Barnardo's pay framework can be found upon application.
