P+S Personnel are pleased to be working on behalf of our clients, who are currently recruiting an Electrical Design Engineer to join their team based in Great Yarmouth on a full-time, permanent basis.
Role Summary:
The successful candidate will play a key role in the design and development of electrical control systems, control panels, and associated schematics for a variety of industrial applications. This role requires a detail-oriented professional with strong AutoCAD and Microsoft software skills, a solid understanding of electrical design principles, and the ability to work both independently and within a team.
Key Responsibilities:
• Design and layout of electrical control panels, including associated steelwork.
• Creation of electrical schematics, single line diagrams, and site layout drawings using AutoCAD.
• Perform cable calculations and ensure compliance with industry standards and safety regulations.
• Select components and materials appropriate for project requirements.
• Design and document PLC logic and control systems.
• Collaborate with the team to conduct functional testing of systems prior to deployment.
• Lead and/or assist with Factory Acceptance Testing (FAT) in the presence of clients as required.
• Ensure that health and safety assessments are carried out and adhered to.
• Maintain adherence to quality control processes and project specifications.
• Communicate effectively with clients, colleagues, and other stakeholders.
• Work both independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team in a fast-paced environment.
Required Skills and Qualifications:
• Proficient in AutoCAD and Microsoft Office suite (Excel, Word, etc.).
• Strong background in electrical control system design.
• Experience in cable sizing, component selection, and schematic development.
• Knowledge of PLC systems (design and logic development).
• Understanding of health & safety regulations and ability to perform risk assessments.
• Good communication skills – verbal and written.
• Ability to manage own workload and adapt to changing project requirements.
• Familiarity with quality assurance and documentation procedures.
• Full UK driving licence.
• Must live locally to Great Yarmouth or be willing to relocate.
• Must have a clean criminal record.
Desirable:
• Previous experience in industrial automation or marine/offshore control systems.
• Hands-on experience with commissioning and troubleshooting.
