An exciting opportunity has arisen to join the dynamic and expanding Paediatric Infectious Diseases and Immunology (PIID) team at the Royal London Hospital (RLH), one of the largest and most prestigious NHS Trusts in the UK,

We are seeking a motivated and experienced paediatrician with sub-specialist training in Infectious Diseases and Immunology (or equivalent training and experience) to take up a Locum Consultant position, helping to support and shape our growing tertiary service. This is a 0.5 WTE (5 PA) locum post, with the potential for conversion to a substantive role within 6–12 months, subject to progression through the approval processes. We welcome applicants interested in combining this role with another part-time position (e.g., 5 PAs elsewhere) as part of a portfolio career or joint appointment. Flexible working arrangements, including job sharing, will be considered.

The successful applicant will become a key member of a growing and multidisciplinary team, taking a leadership role within the PIID service, and supporting the service’s ongoing development, including expansion of our Antimicrobial Stewardship programme.

The post-holder is expected to continue their professional development in paediatric infection and immunology by attending and presenting at regional meetings (e.g. London ID Case Rounds) and national meetings (e.g. pTBNet, BPAIIG)

The post-holder is expected to provide regular teaching and training in paediatric infection and immunology for the paediatric teams, specialist nurses and adult microbiology/virology trainees, with regular scheduled teaching sessions and teaching ward rounds.

The post-holder will contribute to the weekly ID seminar held jointly with the adult ID, microbiology and virology teams (Fridays 1-2pm).

The post-holder is also expected:

- To have regard, at all times, to the clinical and quality standards set out in the Patients’ Charter and the local purchasers’ contracts.

- To liaise effectively and on a timely basis with General Practitioners, community services, and all healthcare agencies.

- To maintain and promote team and multi-disciplinary work with the specialties, working closely and regularly with the consultant medical staff.

- To be ‘in good standing’ with the RCPCH and GMC by making regular returns to the RCPCH of CME activities
