Summary


We are seeking applications from enthusiastic individuals to our Oral Surgery team as a 5programmed activity (PA) Locum Consultant. The Oral Surgery team forms part of the Dental Networked Services at Barts Health. This is an ideal career opportunity for anyone who is looking for a challenging opportunity to develop their existing skills, and to provide a first-class service to patients. The role is very busy and will include outpatient management, local and general anaesthetic treatment lists, management of theatre cases (including relevant ward, discharge and post-operative management), supporting service colleagues with management of 18-week RTT , managing clinical governance processes as required within the oral surgery department, delivery of service improvements and planning with operational and nursing colleagues and working closely with senior colleagues and clinicians to deliver exemplary care for our patients.



The role will be based across the Royal London Dental Hospital and Whipps Cross Hospital.



The Royal London Dental Hospitals offers a range of specialist Level 3 dental, ophthalmology and oral and maxillofacial services to North-East London. The OMFS team offer specialist trauma, TMJ, orthognathic, soft tissue and salivary gland services.



· Provide exemplary patient care in line with professional standards.

· Lead, manage and supervise outpatient clinics and treatment lists, management of inpatients and surgical cases.

· Work closely with operational and nursing colleagues to deliver patient care in line with national referral to treatment (RTT) and urgent suspected cancer targets.

· Development of sub-specialty interest in line with service requirements.

· To be involved in departmental research.

· To participate in the audit of patient services and to assist them in the direction and management of patient services.

· To use resources at their disposal with due regard to care, safety and appropriateness.

· To respond to and manage clinical incidents and complaints in line with clinical governance policies and procedures.
